Thinking Ahead: Industry Leaders Convene in Dallas for Fleet Cost & Care’s Second Leadership Summit

The summit was an opportunity to foster partnerships and discuss challenges facing the crane & rigging industry. The goal: to pave the way toward a brighter future with technology. Building on the momentum established at the first Fleet Cost & Care Leadership Summit in Indianapolis this past May, October’s event, held in Dallas, TX, focused on building partnerships to better develop the industry’s workforce, improve company culture, and increase the safety of day-to-day operations.
“It was a very productive summit, with so many informed participants in attendance, it was no surprise the event was full of engaging conversations among leaders of crane rental companies and vendors that service them,” said Jeff Curran, President of Fleet Cost & Care.
The intimate gathering brought together leaders from 19 different companies. By design, the strategic invite process resulted in two distinct groups: leaders from nine North American crane rental companies and representatives from equipment manufacturers, and providers of telematics, safety, insurance, training, and business intelligence services.
The summit featured a series of loosely structured presentations centered on three topics:
- Building Partnerships for the Future
- Safety and People
- Culture
Each topic allowed vendors a chance to present their technology and solutions to the group. As intended, these presentations gave way to crane industry leaders sharing their experiences related to those products or services and posing questions to the group about them for discussion.
The format worked. Conversations flourished, ranging from onboard cameras and their myriad legal ramifications, how to reduce loss exposure through technology, to how to implement effective learning models within organizations, and more. The group also heard what leaders in the crane world are doing to clear the way to future success.
When the short but impactful summit concluded the takeaway was clear and perhaps a bit cliché: Together Everyone Achieves More – (TEAM). Some clichés should not be dismissed too quickly. In the case of the Fleet Cost & Care Leadership Summit what do we, the staff at Fleet Cost & Care mean by a TEAM approach?
Crane companies need fleet management software, equipment, training, telematics, safety solutions, insurance, and business intelligence services to run their businesses. Service providers and manufacturers need companies to purchase their products. When ideas and experiences are shared from both perspectives the rate at which everyone can improve, evolve, and grow accelerates. The technology provider that makes a better solution for the crane company directly impacts the crane company that uses these solutions to better serve its customers. This moves the industry ahead. At Fleet Cost & Care we see value in uniting groups of people with common interests to forge a brighter future for the industry. We believe our Leadership Summits are great opportunities synergize and move forward more efficiently as a TEAM. We are all in this together. The staff at FCC, our vendors, and our customers are passionate about our cause and together we can drive towards the finish line.
Thank you to all our attendees who journeyed near and far, the second Fleet Cost & Care Leadership Summit was successful in its goals. It compiled a group of executives and vendors to discuss challenges relevant to the crane & rigging industry. More importantly we shared innovative ideas centered around technology, safety, and data that combats these challenges.
Our work continues, the next steps are the solutions.
